The History of

New Hope

The first building was a log cabin approximately the size of a two-room house.

The two-room log building served the membership until 1915.  At that time, a new church home was erected adjacent to the present building under the pastorage of Rev. W.H. Ferrell. That structure, which was remodeled in later years, was our church home for forty-five years.

Our present structure was completed as a lock and key job in the spring of 1960 under the pastorage of Reverend J. L. Dorsey.

New Hope Baptist Church was founded in 1873 in a bush arbor.

The church in this community is a family oriented one with several generations of membership. The church has sent many strong Christians out in the world to fill missions in many walks of life.  It has stood the test of the years with a beautiful heritage and remains as a beaconing light spreading the message of Jesus Christ.

Our church is more than bricks or mortar, more than comfort and beauty, but one that is rooted in its membership with spirituality and service to mankind, spreading the message that “Jesus is Lord."

For over 150 years, we have been running and growing and we are determined to keep our mission going.
